Visa Requirements
Participants are advised to apply early for their visas, should they require one to come to Germany. Visa regulations depend on your nationality and country of origin. We suggest you contact your local German Consulate for official instructions on the specific visa regulations and application procedures that may apply to you. It is the responsibility of the participant to obtain a visa if required. A valid passport is required for entry into Germany. European Union residents have separate requirements.
Letter of Invitation
Official letters of invitation designed to help overcome administrative difficulties in certain countries will be sent upon request. It must be understood that such letters do not represent a commitment on the part of the Organizing Committee or meeting to provide any financial assistance. If you require such a letter, please apply to the Secretariat at iser@kenes.com and provide your full name and address details with your request.
CME Accreditation
An application will be made to the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide CME accreditation for medical specialists attending the XX Biennial Meeting of the International Society for Eye Research. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), www.uems.net.
Updated information regarding CME accreditation will be available on the Meeting website once available.
Banking and Exchange
The official currency in Germany is the Euro (€). Official banking hours in Berlin are generally Monday to Friday from 09:00 am to 16:00. On Wednesdays smaller branches are often closed, and larger banks may close at 13:00. Banks frequently stay open until 18:30 on Thursdays. Few banks are open on Saturday or Sunday. Most banks in Berlin exchange traveller's cheque, Euro cheques and foreign currency. These services may be available at selected branches only. Banks offer similar exchange rates as the Bureaux de Change, and the commissions tend to be less. Automated cash dispensers are located outside most banks and cash can be withdrawn 24 hours a day. All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.
Liability and Insurance
The Meeting Secretariat and Organisers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of or damage to private property of participants and accompanying persons. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.
